Not All Business Advice Is Good Advice — Here's What Actually Matters
It can feel like everywhere you turn, there is some other "guru" claiming, "If you don't do this, you're never going to be successful" (this is usually their tried and tested formula, by the way).
We're told on a daily basis we've gotta have a game plan; we've gotta stick to it no matter what. If we want to make it, we must hustle and grind - never let our foot off the gas.
I know this works for some people, but I also know first-hand how overwhelming it can feel, too. All of the unsolicited advice adds to the pressure you already feel under. So, I decided to set the record straight.
Details always matter in a business, but not all details are made equal and focusing on some can do more harm than good.
So, instead of focusing on:
Showing up on social media daily because someone said you have to.
A perfectly mapped out ideal client down to their pet's name and coffee order before you start.
Sticking to some coach's framework because they say it's the only way, even when it feels wrong and costs you a fortune.
Building an audience on a platform you don't own that can be taken away at any second for no apparent reason.
Instead, let's focus on the right things:
✅ Show up authentically when you've got something worth sharing.
✅ Choose a few key demographics for your ideal client and start with that, then refine it as you go along.
✅ Do your research and get the right help for where you are. Sadly, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for this; we are all different, and so is each business.
✅ Build an email list of people interested in what you do. Use it to grow your authority and credibility and make sales. Then, if a social media platform crashes and burns, you still have your audience.
Because the truth is — there is no single blueprint for success. No magic funnel. No perfectly timed launch strategy that works the same for everyone.
What does work?
Being consistent with what feels right for you. Building a foundation you want to show up for. And communicating your message clearly to the people who need to hear it most.
That's where strategic, personality-driven copy comes in.
It doesn't just sound like you — it sells for you. It builds trust while you sleep. It becomes the engine behind your offers, your authority, and your client experience.
TL;DR? Here's what to focus on:
Messaging that reflects you and resonates with the right people
Systems you can sustain instead of ones that burn you out
Email marketing and copywriting that actually converts
Advice that meets you where you are, not where someone else is
Need support writing words that work?
If you're done trying to "wing it" with your copy, or you're tired of duct-taping together advice that doesn't quite fit your business — you're in the right place.
